Tuning Out

Three things I wanted to do last night ... Publish a style post, work on my media kit and respond to emails."On a Friday night no less.. Yippie to my social life." The media kit I started off by doing a bit of research.But with so much information out there on the internet "which I am a fortunate contributor of" one helpful post led to another and another and another..which led to the creation of a media kit dashboard on my google analytics profile, plus a diversion to a new Instagram account by said "helpful blogger" .. Then editing photos for my style post.. and then I looked up and saw the numbers 8:21 p.m. in the lower right corner of my laptop. ...and thennnn this overwhelmingly draining wave just rushed over me and I just wanted to TUNE OUT- shut everything down and relax... 

And that's exactly what I did ..because for the past 7 days I literally haven't had a break!! From work to home, to working out to working on this site.. time just vanished... or so it seems. When did it become so mandatory to put in so much effort and time and energy into building  a successful life.. that we even forget to live.. Fast forward to a slice of carrot cake "wish I had wine instead", and a stream of "Paper Towns" which kinda tied into this message.. sigh of relief...

As as this point, only the emails part of that to-do list has been complete; and now this post.. "which I switched to a self-help post instead". It's Saturday afternoon and my routine has again taken it;s course, BUT I have decided to pay attention and give myself some me time.. "2 hours before this post and the rest of the evening after". I realized that I haven't had a "friends related activity in months" because I've been so engrossed in work, and becoming the best me.. and to put it quite frank... I basically have forgotten to live. To step outside.. and chill, go hang, go to the beach... To tune out.. Who knows maybe you will find some Inspiration whilst doing that.. 

The purpose of this post is to basically remind you that despite wanting to build something amazing. Despite being determined and driven to excel .. take a moment to filter down to some you time. To live a little, to pay attention to what your body is telling you. Mental exhaustion is far from a great feeling... and if you're not too careful or aware of what's happening.. further health complications may arise. Like anxiety attacks, and stress buildup..Even though you are getting your require sleep, and you constantly feel drained.. take a step back and just relax.. because that is not a good sign....

Yes, you want to build something, but what's the point of killing yourself doing it if you won't be able to enjoy it. Make sure to separate, regroup, tune out and bit and then continue...meanwhile.. It's a coffee break time and a movie!!  Do you pay attention to signs that you need a break? xx Menellia
