Add New Life to Your Home with Pantone’s Color of the Year

Add New Life to Your Home with Pantone’s Color of the Year

Following trends in home decoration is never easy. Things are changing so fast and you really have to be consistent to stay updated. If you’re looking for the latest news on this topic, here’s the scoop – Pantone’s color of 2017 is Greenery! That means you’ll be seeing this color everywhere, from the exterior walls to the living room carpets. Here’s how you can implement this color into your home as well.

Greenery? Greenery!

After picking shades like Radiant Orchid, Marsala, Serenity and Rose Quartz in the past years, this season’s pick isn’t as unexpected as it may seem. Just like previous Colors of the Year, Greenery is neutral and bland at the first look, but it also offers quite a few possibilities. You can easily pair it with several dozens of other shades, from neutrals and brights to pastels and metallics, so the opportunities are limitless.

The only choice you have to make is how to use this color in your home – you can use it for the walls, stick to a handful of Greenery details, or, finally, make a bold statement with just one piece of furniture – a sofa, for example. In short, you can add more or less Greenery into your life, but don’t worry: just because this color looks neutral and simple doesn’t mean your home will look that way as well, so make sure you introduce Greenery properly.

All In!

No matter which room you’re about to redecorate, the easiest and most effective way to do so is by changing the color of the walls. And with Greenery, things could get quite interesting quite quickly. This change is going to be radical, so allow yourself some time to adapt to it.

However, if you’re not ready for such a big change, yet still want some Greenery on your walls, take it down a notch and pick an option that’s not so drastic. Although many think it’s outdated, wallpaper is a great way to try such a color and see if it works for you. If you’re satisfied with it, simply apply the same color on the walls or, if that’s not your cup of tea, choose a different shade.

Enhance the Effect

Once you take care of the walls, figure out how to enhance the wonderful effect of Greenery. There are several ways to go, but most people just pick the most obvious one and add lots of decorations. Pillows, cushions, throws, sofa covers and rugs will definitely do the trick, especially if paired with appropriate ottomans, armchairs and sofas. Since green is known to calm you down, you can never have too much of it in your bedroom or living room!

Another idea is to add a few lamps here and there to accentuate your wall color even more. This way, your Greenery will become even greener and bolder, so the overall outcome will be more spectacular. Alternatively, add a few decorative LED lights from Superlight that will have the same effect, but, as these lights are eco-friendly and energy-efficient, you’ll be able to save some money in the process. Ultimately, this will make your living space seem larger, visually more appealing and more elegant, too.

Small Spaces

The problem with bathroom and kitchen decoration is that these spaces are quite small and there’s little you can do here besides repainting the walls, laying new tiles and adding a few decorations. However, with Greenery, even just a thing or two will make a huge change.

For example, you can equip your bathroom with a new toilet seat, shower curtain or medicine cabinet painted in this unique shade. Furthermore, adding plants into a bathroom seems silly at first, but some species actually prefer hot, steamy and humid areas, so introducing new Greenery pots and vases is a great idea. The same goes for the kitchen, but here you can repaint counters and cabinets into this color and you’ll have a new kitchen in no time!

Other Ideas

Among the other Greenery-based home decoration ideas are new kitchen appliances, utensils, dishes and cups, as well as bed sheets, towels and even a bathtub! If you can repaint it on your own, why not use Pantone’s Color of the Year instead of that boring old white?
