How To Find Your Passion!
A few weeks back I watched a short Iris Apfel documentary as a source of inspiration and a way to really evaluate where I stood with this blog and what directive path I wanted to take from then.. "Just A Blog or More?"And as I watched and listened I paid very close attention to some key pointers highlighted by different featured fashion moguls, designers et al; and took notes; one of most outstanding points focused around finding your calling and how to figure out where to go in life and finding your passion. I think it's safe to say that a lot of us battle with finding our true passion and spend a lot of time flip flopping from one place to the next; and I partially blame society for this; but before you argue let me explain why.
If you were to sit and think about what you wanted to become (or what you thought you wanted to become) between the age of 5-10 are you there now? For some a the age of 16 or more are you there now? And if you are.. congratulations and great job!! We are schooled to choose a profession as such tender ages we fail to experiment and explore different avenues we probably might have been much much more successful in and enjoy more!Perfect example for me I studied natural sciences (physics chemistry et al through A'level), but after my first job, I realised I loved admin, and so I had to learn something new.If you're still searching, it's not too late. I admit that I STILL don't know what exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life and I am shy a few months from 30. BUT I will tell you that I definitely have an idea and it is a result of trials and errors.
A Few Pointers
Learning from life is one of the most effective tools for decision making.Because you have an idea of what such and such entails, if you like it and if you don't. Trying different things not only give you experience but life lessons no one can EVER take away from you.
Don't be afraid to be yourself.
Go all out and stand out of the crowd!! People will still like you. If they don't who cares? If you fake it.. honey you will be faking it all your life and who know WHAT great opportunities you will miss out on.
Find your Passion!
If you possess a vast amount of skills or things you enjoy doing (career wise), select the one that you would still enjoy doing without the money element. THAT is your passion. If you love giving advice for free, that is your passion. And hey.. if someone is willing to PAY you for that advice even better. etc. Having a passion for what you do will make your life so much more easier and rewarding, and ultimately fulfilling!! "If you don’t learn constantly, you don’t grow and you will wither. Too many people wither on the vine. Sure, it gets a little harder as you get older, but new experiences and new challenges keep it fresh."Iris Apfel
Have you figured out your passion?
