Destination Caribbean- Martinique, Dominica, Antigua..
I'm usually drawn away from the tropical isles when it comes to vacation, but this year, all I wanna see is sunshine & beaches!! An immense amount of it. But why would a Caribbean island girl like myself want to take visit more salty places? As such I will be doing a series of posts highlighting Caribbean destinations I have visited so far and where I plan to visit next & why. To start off - the then!!
First off, every island has its own uniqueness which makes it stands out. Though we all have similarities "words, foods, style" there beaches and culture are way diverse. For example, in Antigua, the foods they eat "like bread egg and saltfish", would NEVER be eaten in Saint Lucia "together that is by the way". Or in Martinique, green figs & saltfish "bananas" is called "Tinain & lanmori ". Same dish, different name "click to see the deliciousness". Or hew you will finsh a craft market in almost every island "tourism attraction".
One of my aims is to visit every single island in the Caribbean region by the end of 2018 at least once. Some of which I have visited multiple times but here's what I love about each island and
Dominica - Love the nature "it's dubbed Caribbean name"
Antigua - Veryyyy beautiful beaches!!
Martinique- Great rum & diverse shopping "food"
Technically I lived in Antigua for 3 years, but never understood "tourist play" until my late twenties". I love the fact that it's a small island, and everything seems so at reach. One of my FAVOURITE places "C & C Wine House". I mean there's an actual cellar in that place!! Heaven in my opinion & the coconut shrimp is DIVINE!!!!
Dominica - I visited in my teens and do plan on visiting again very soon. But from my memory, it was a very beautiful nature island. It's sort of reminded me of Saint Lucia - Lush trees, rivers and fresh air" but with way more intensity. I've always wanted to go to Dominica's Creole festival, so it looks like my trip will be during the month of November.
Martinique - I spend a few summers there during my late teenage early 20's, but I have never had the chance to really enjoy the tourism aspect of it. It is also on my destination Caribbean list for soon to be travels. I have been eyeing the Trois Islet "3 islets" region, for this trip. The great thing about Martinique is that it's literally an eyeshot away from Saint Lucia and very inexpensive to get there. Maybe that's where I got my fresh obsession from?? In any case "I believe that I was destined to be "une francaise".
Of course, this new series will be highlighting a new destination each week, so I will close with this. Which Caribbean island have you visited and what did you love about it?
